May 24th - June 23rd. Opening, Thursday May 24th from 6PM - 9PM

Usable Space presents Looking Sideways. Curated by Emily Tripp, Looking Sideways cultivates a group of eight artists, working with abstract conceptual processes that come to fruition through the creation of paintings and sculptures. Looking Sideways proposes that the viewer spends time with these works, to get to the depth of what the artist intends. Many of these artists’ work allegorically with reference to the figure or body. Others overtly use the figure to construct a narrative image. While the rest operate amongst constructed systems of process as means to produce a work. Artists exhibited include; Björn Akerblom, Nicholas Perry, Lauren Sullivan, Joe Acri, Emma Smith, Joe Steiner, Emily Tripp and Brennen Steines. These artists have recently graduated from attending The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
